Sometimes an invitation arrives that you have to read twice to be sure it is real. That is exactly how it felt for Verena and Maribel when they were invited to an international OLAPLEX training event in New York, one of only a few chances worldwide to take part.
The flight left Munich on 28 February. You could see the excitement on their faces, and the nine hours flew by. Once in New York, they moved into their room right next to the Empire State Building, and both felt like a dream. Three days later they would be sitting down with colleagues from Dubai, the Dominican Republic, the Netherlands, Colombia and Los Angeles. You might think that communication would have been difficult. The opposite was true. Thanks to the open nature of everyone involved, something like a big OLAPLEX family came together from day one.
Day one was all about craft. Color Mastery, Balayage, Airtouch and cutting techniques for curl types you rarely see in the chair in Tirol. There was also a talk by Chief Science Officer Lavinia Popescu on OLAPLEX innovation, which made it clear that real research sits behind these products.
Day two looked at a different side: stage presence and storytelling. As a stylist, how do I explain what I am doing? How do I bring a guest along into my work? It is often exactly this kind of communication that makes the difference between a good appointment and an exceptional one.
Day three took place at OLAPLEX headquarters, exactly where all the new product launches are presented. The launch of the N°3 Plus Complete Repair Treatment, the presentation of the "Train the Trainer" certificate, a champagne toast. And the OLAPLEX founder there in person, with real time for questions.
What this means for you
The knowledge does not stay with the two of them. As a first step, Verena and Maribel sent a video to all locations. The teams then gathered their questions, and during the salon visits these are answered directly, techniques are shown and treatments are presented. On top of that, there are ongoing Zoom calls with the international OLAPLEX community, so the exchange never stops.
